The Magic of Watercolour with Jonathan Newey
Tuesday 16th January – Tuesday 20th February
This is a 5 week course that will show you how to use watercolour in different ways to paint different subjects. Each week will include a particular subject such as buildings, landscapes and still life. Techniques will include pen and wash, wet in wet, working on texture and painting with a single colour.
Suitable for students of all abilities.
Tools and materials needed for the course:
1 x A3 or A4 equivalent pad of ‘Not’ surface watercolour paper 140lb/300gsm
‘Not’ refers to the surface texture of the paper and is also known as CP (cold pressed) or Bockingford
1 x size 10 or 12 and 1 x size 4 round watercolour brush.
Watercolour paint, either tubes or pans.
If bringing tubes then you will need 1 white mixing palette or china plate
I recommend the following colours:
Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Raw Sienna
1 x Waterproof Black Ink Pen
I recommend either of the following: Pilot DR, Edding Profipen, Sakura pigment ink pen, Faber Castell Pitt Pen
1 x Water Receptacle (Jam Jar or plastic container)
You are welcome to bring along any tools and materials you may already have and are familiar with.
